Nub’s Nob Racing enters its 24th season of helping ski racers achieve success in FIS, USSA, CUSSA Region 3, MHSAA and NASTAR sanctioned events. Members of Nub’s Nob Alpine Racing Team (NNR) compete in the USSA Junior Olympics, US National Championships, Federation International de Ski (FIS) Mid-America Cups, Michigan High School State Finals, USSA Masters and NASTAR National Championships. NNR is proud to have coached 2 FIS Mid-America Cup Champions, numerous Michigan State High School Athletic Association Champions and NASTAR National Champions. NNR is a member club of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA).

The link below is also great for equipment questions regarding FIS/USSA regulations and for USSA Region 3 registration packets. Check it frequently as schedules change constantly.

You must register with the NNR team and join the USSA before you can race at USSA events with us. If you are a new NNR USSA Club Team Member simply enter the USSA/US Ski Team link and follow the membership path to join USSA.

How do you participate in Nub’s Nob Alpine Racing at USSA Races:

1. Join USSA (United States Ski Association) TODAY.  USSA Membership is required to race at USSA Events.  USSA membership is not required to "train" with NNR.
2. Register with USSA Central Division Region 3.  USSA is broken out into sections throughout the United States.  NNR athletes who choose to race USSA are in Region 3 of the Central Division (CUSSA) and must be register with the region as well as USSA to race.  
3. Join NNR (Nub’s Nob Racing) by choosing the applicable USSA Race Membership or Training Program, see choices below.  Athletes racing USSA are encourage to have coaching and NNR provides some of the best on hill services for our team. 

NNR USSA Full Race Membership

For USSA racers, our top race coaching and training package for FIS and USSA juniors who desire the best and most intense race coaching and training regimen available. For racers who desire high-speed, steep terrain and are in preparation for major competition. Must be physically fit and have coaching staff approval for participation. Includes all weekends, holidays, nights and all CUSSA Region 3 race event coaching.

Coaching at all CUSSA Region 3 scheduled races includes technique, tactics, training courses, warm-up exercises, on-hill ski preparation and video analysis. All November through March training weekends at Nub's Nob as weather permits. Two nights of midweek training on Scarface at Nub's Nob on Monday and Wednesday during regular night skiing season starting January 2, 2013. Christmas holiday training starting December 26 - 31, 2012. Multiple sessions per day during weekends and holidays. NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning.

Helmets are required for all events.

NNR USSA Weekend Race Membership

For USSA-CD Region 3 and racers, our top race coaching and training package for FIS, USSA junior racers who train at Nub’s Nob on weekends, over the Christmas holidays and desire coaching at all CUSSA Region 3 races. For racers who desire high-speed, steep terrain and are in preparation for major competition. Must be physically fit and have coaching staff approval for participation.

Coaching at all CUSSA Region 3 scheduled races including technique, tactics, training courses, warm-up exercises, on-hill ski preparation and analysis. Training at Nub's Nob on weekends December through March as weather permits. Christmas holiday training December 26 - 31, 2012.  NNR membership includes information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning.

Helmets are required for all racing and training.

You do not have to be a USSA Member to TRAIN or participate in Holiday Camps with NNR.  Just register for one of the following Training/Camp Programs below:

Full Training Program

This is the top training only (no coaching at races) package for FIS, USSA, high school and middle school, who desire the best and most intense training regimen available. For ski racers who desire high-speed, steep terrain and are in preparation for major competition. Must be physically fit and have coaching staff approval for participation.  Mid-week training is conducted on the same steep terrain that is raced in MHSAA and CUSSA events.

All November through March training weekends as weather permits.  Two nights of midweek training at Nub's Nob on Monday and Wednesday regular night skiing season. Christmas holiday training starting December 26 - 31, 2012.  NNR training programs include information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning.

Helmets are required for all training.

Weekend/Holiday Training Program

Training for serious FIS, USSA, high school and middle school racers who can only attend on weekends and over the Christmas Holidays.  These sessions include very early morning steep training on the best race terrain in Michigan. Slalom and Giant Slalom.

All December through March weekends as weather permits, through March 11, 2013.  Christmas holiday training December 26 - 31, 2012.  NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning.

Helmets are required for all training

Master and Senior Training Program

Training for USSA and Non-USSA Masters (over 27 years of age) and USSA and Non-USSA Seniors (21 to 26 years of age), Speed Series, MACC and NASTAR racers who desire high speed training on steep terrain. Program starts as soon as weather permits. Includes all weekend, holiday and midweek night training from November through March at Nub's Nob.

Includes all available training sessions at Nub's Nob during regular skiing season.   NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ ski alignment and tuning. NNR uses the best terrain available including the same steep slopes raced in USSA and Speed Series races.

Helmets are required for all training.

Midweek Night or Weekend Training Programs

Training for middle school, high school and USSA racers who desire high speed training on steep terrain. Racers have 2 programs to choose from:

1. Midweek Night Training Program starts Wednesday night January 2, 2013 and ends March 7, 2013
   Two nights of midweek training on Scarface at Nub's Nob on Monday and Wednesday nights during regular night skiing season.  Holiday Camp is not included in this program.  This is a great midweek training addition to any local high school or middle school racer looking to conquer steep slopes.
2. Weekend Training Program starts Saturday, December 1st, 2012 and ends March 11, 2013.  Training will include two sessions on Saturday and Sunday on Race Arena.  Holiday Camp is not included in this program.  This is the perfect weekend addition to any local or "downstate" racer who wishes steep training.

NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ ski alignment and tuning. NNR uses the best terrain available including the same steep slopes raced in USSA, MHSAA and Speed Series races.

Helmets are required for all training.  

NNR Midweek or Weekend Only Training (Holiday Camp Not Included):     $305

Christmas/Holiday Training Program Only

Training for serious racers of any age who can train only over the Christmas holidays. Christmas holiday training starting December 26 -31, 2012.  Three sessions daily. Slalom and Giant Slalom. NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning. This includes early morning training on the best terrain in the Midwest, Scarface, including the same steep slopes raced in USSA and MHSAA competitions.  Athletes age 13 and below begin training at 9am each day, with breaks between sessions.  Athletes age 14 years and older begin training at 6:30 each morning, except Dec. 26th which begins at 10am, with breaks between sessionsl  NNR coaches reserve the right to move athletes between groups to insure the most effective training possible.  Please visit Training Camp Updates for more complete information on session times.

Please note that you need a season pass or appropriate lift ticket for this camp.  This is only the training fee, lifts and meals are not included.

NNR USSA One or Three Weekend Race Membership

For USSA-Central Division (CUSSA) Region 3 racers, our top race coaching for FIS, USSA junior racers who train at Nub’s Nob on weekends and/or the Christmas holidays and desire coaching at only One or Three Weekend CUSSA Region 3 races (each weekend includes Saturday and Sunday races).  For racers who desire high-speed, steep terrain and are in preparation for major competition.  Must be physically fit and have coaching staff approval for race participation.  Does not include FIS races nor nonsanctioned CUSSA or USSA races.

Coaching at One or Three Weekend CUSSA Region 3 scheduled races including technique, tactics, training courses, warm-up exercises, on-hill ski preparation and analysis.

Helmets are required for all racing and training.

• $70 Added to any NNR Training/Camp Program for coaching One Weekend CUSSA Race
• $210 Added to any NNR Training/Camp Program for coaching Three Weekend CUSSA Races

What does NNR expect of its members?

Have fun and learn! Be the best they can be at everything they do. Achieve at their highest level in academics, at home, in life and sports. Promote and demonstrate good sportsmanship. Develop the fundamental skills to be good skiers. Combine the tactics and techniques for successful ski racing with their talent. Maintain good physical condition. Set a personal example for exemplary behavior. Make good decisions. Stay on their feet.

What does NNR expect of the Parents?

Be supportive of their children. Help and work at the races. Encourage children to set academic, skiing and personal goals and to demonstrate good behavior and sportsmanship. Ask questions. Communicate with the coaches. Set the example of good sportsmanship and behavior. Enforce study habits and love these special days in a great family environment.

What do I do now?

• You must have your USSA membership number to race at USSA Races
• Choose the best NNR plan for you, fill out the the registration form, liability release form, medical and send signed form and payment to NNR.
• Helmets are required for all races and training.
• Get in the best shape of your life. Be ready to go fast. Real fast.
