Given the current temperatures it feels more like March outside, not January. Despite this January thaw the coverage on our slopes remains excellent. Our world class grooming Crew continues to work hard to provide the best possible conditions everyday. The “spring snow” is here through the weekend but cooler temperatures with some snow is predicted for early next week. Enjoy the warmer weather and spring like conditions on the slopes while it lasts and we will look forward to getting back to more seasonable temperatures and snow next week.

If you are a snowmaker there are two phrases you like to hear: “Turn Them On!” in the fall and “Turn Them Off” when you have made enough snow. After nearly 12 days of continous snowmaking during the coldest air of the winter to date, our World Class Snow Crew turned off the guns Monday morning. We are are able to do this because 100% of our snowmaking slopes are well covered with snow depths of up to 5 feet. Our Crew will now focus on pushing and grooming these huge piles of snow as we work toward opening Pintail Peak Wednesday morning!

Almost 2′ of new snow in the last week and great snowmaking weather means more open slopes today including the Tower Glades!  Snowmaking is almost complete on Pintail Peak and we plan to open there by Thursday.  Thanks to Mother Nature and the herculean efforts of our World Class Snowcrew we will be 100% open in just a few days!  YAHOO!

Nub’s Nob was blanketed with over 3″ of snow on Tuesday morning and the temperatures are beginning to fall. Our world class snow Crew will be taking full advantage of this cold snap. Yesterday we moved the majority of snowmaking efforts to the South Side and Pintail Peak! We can’t wait to open for the season tomorrow (December 15). We will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with most of the Front Side on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday we will begin to open some runs on the South Side! Give us a hand and THINK SNOW!

Our neighbors at Boyne Highlands suffered a significant structure fire to their Main Lodge Hotel yesterday. Many local fire departments and emergency medical and law enforcement officials worked together to fight the fire and assist the guests. Our thoughts and prayers are with the guests that were staying in the lodge and the entire Boyne Highlands staff as they begin to recover from this tragedy.

When we heard about the fire our staff and ski patrol was in contact with Boyne management to see what assistance we could offer. During an emergency like this one it is important to know that your neighbors are ready to help. We are grateful for the relationship between our two resorts. Nub’s Nob was happy to offer free skiing on Sunday to any Boyne season pass holder.

We will continue to stay in touch with our friends at Boyne and we wish them all the best as we both gear up for what we still believe will be an excellent season of skiing and riding at Boyne Highlands and Nub’s Nob.
