242 Snowmaking Guns Blast Nub’s Nob

Harbor Springs, Michigan – While most Midwest skiers and snowboarders are rejoicing this season’s early snowfall, Nub’s Nob, Michigan’s top winter resort, quietly rolled out and tested the largest snowmaking force in its 49-year history during the recent cold snap.

Now totaling 242 snowmaking guns the Nub’s Nob fleet is legendary and one of North America’s finest.  Area Manager Marty Moore said simply, “Our goal at Nub’s Nob is to be completely ready to make snow whenever temperature and humidity permit.  By Halloween we are 100% set to begin covering our slopes with the best in manmade snow.”

“Every fall early season skiers and riders know that we’re going to manufacture snow as soon as Mother Nature allows” said Moore “In fact, Nub’s Nob’s earliest opening on record was November 9th!”   The Northern Michigan resort has opened by Thanksgiving weekend or earlier in 7 of the last 10 winters.

“Snow is our number one priority”, Moore noted, “Nub’s Nob is still the only resort in the Midwest ever chosen in SKI Magazine’s Top Ten Resorts in all of North America for anything and we’ve made it 4 times for snow, grooming, value and terrain parks!”

“It’s not just the number of guns or how much water and air you push” added Marty, “Without one of the best snowmaking and grooming crews in North America all these snow guns would mean nothing.  The fact that Nub’s Nob was voted to the top 10 in North America twice for snow and grooming is a super reward to our dedicated crew.”
