53 Slopes in 49 Seasons
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 2006
Harbor Springs, Michigan – More steep tree skiing and snowboarding plus a major slope switch and re-contour highlight growth at the top winter resort in Michigan, Nub’s Nob.
The Tower Glades, named for the communication towers atop its summit, have had another slope carved into the unique “hike-in only” area. This new tree filled expert only run increased skiing and riding terrain in The Tower Glades by about 30%. The steep pitch has tighter trees and is naturally wind protected for powder hounds.
Another woods filled slope has been added to Nub’s Nob South. The new Bayview Glade drops steeply from the groomed south ridge of Bayview through the trees down to Ramblewood. Skiers and riders who enjoy the Southern Comfort Glade will find the Bayview Glade another great spot for first tracks on snowy days.
“I love the expert tree slopes of The Tower Glades” Winter Sport Schools Director Scott Stillings said. “This new spot is a natural drift zone and will really hold fresh snow for powder pigs like me. Bayview has long been one of my favorite hidden runs at Nub’s Nob and its new glade will have powder snow in it a long time because it’s secluded.”
Pintail Peak fans will certainly notice the widening and new entry to the Whitefish and Chips slopes. Plus, after all these years, the slopes have flip flopped names! “Hey, it was backward” said Nub’s Nob GM Jim Bartlett “nobody has the chips before the fish, so we turned it around.” The 2 More Difficult slopes also saw an increase in snowmaking.
